Vienna postcard|Coffee mug coaster by Cecelia Ronald

Vienna postcard|Coffee mug coaster by Cecelia Ronald

I received this postcard while in London in 1948 from a friend in Vienna, along with a pound of Viennese coffee, and had nothing else to use as a coaster while I enjoyed the wonderful brew, not thinking of it as more than a note. We never met again, lost in the post-war haze and shifting populations. I have used it as such ever since.

  1. Oh what a great story – there is a flash, in that!

  2. I agree that the stories great, and I love that I can see the ring marks from when it was a coaster. Nice.

  3. As Matt says, there’s a story here that’s told in the image itself.

  4. What a beautiful story and beautiful postcard. I adore Vienna, and wish I could have such a postcard to use under my coffee, too. Thanks so much for sharing this image and story with us.
